Scarlet Youth is a shoegaze band rooted in
Finland, which features in its ranks members from Iconcrash, ShamRain,
Kemopetrol & Sidewaytown. The band took its first steps back in
spring 2004; Back then the passion to create shoegaze music in a vein of
the genre’s legends, such as Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse
etc. finally came true in form of a few songs. In the beginning this
yet unnamed band lived only in Kalle’s hard drive, with no further plans
of releasing something or finding other musicians for the band.

The new record is now finished - mixed and mastered. The first disc 'Fast Trains And Telegraph Wires'
will be an eleven track full length album. The song 'The Imperfection
Of Memory' features guest lead vocals by Cath Carroll. The opening track
'My Face For The World To See' is currently featured on our MySpace
music player.
The second disc 'Cicely Tonight Volume
One' will be included with all copies of the album. This will not be a
limited edition. This will be a mini album including a guest lead vocal
from Anne Mari Barker-Davies on 'The Lowest Arc'( she also provides
backing vocals on Cold Colours) and a cover version of the Nick
Laird-Clowes song 'Not For Second Prize'.
A vinyl edition is still being debated as
we will need to approach the album with that format in mind so a little
rethink may be necessary.

Over the Summer of 2007 Stereolab reconvened at Instant Zero, their
studio in Bordeaux to record 32 luminous new songs which would become
two distinct albums – 2008's Chemical Chords and this their new release,
Not Music.
The recordings began when Tim Gane started messing with "a series of
about seventy tiny drum loops" on top of improvised chord sequences
using piano and vibraphone. "Building them up from there – later slowing
the tracks down or speeding them up – a totally new way of doing songs
for us..."
Not Music is Stereolab's twelfth album and is released during the band's
self-imposed hiatus from recording and touring. The album is released
via Stereolab's own imprint Duophonic UHF Disks.
